Ina Boesch
studied Ethnology, History and Journalism at the University of Zurich.
In her Master’s thesis she analyzed the effects of a developmental aid
project on the social and economic structures in the highlands of Peru.
In her dissertation, based on the biography of Margarethe Hardegger, she examined
the worker, peace and reform movements in Switzerland in the first half of
the Twentieth Century.
She taught cultural studies at the University of Zurich as well as at the
Zurich Academy of Art and Design.
Media Research and Cultural Theory
2008–2010:
Member of the team working on the third volume of „Radio und Fernsehen
in der Schweiz“ („Radio and Television in Switzerland“), about
the history of the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation. In their research project,
Ina Boesch and Ruth Hungerbühler investigate among other things the role
the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG) has played in cultivating understanding
among the linguistic and cultural regions of Switzerland.
2005–2006:
Within the framework of the project „Campus Radio“ for the HGKZ
(Zurich Academy of Art and Design) and the HMT (Zurich Academy of Music),
lecturer on the topic of „Online, on air. The Basics of Making Radio“.
2004–2006:
Feasibility study for and supervision of establishing a Campus Radio station
(on behalf of the Zurich Academy of Art and Design and the Zurich
Academy of Music (HMT).
1996–2005:
Lecturer at the Zurich Academy of Art and Design in the areas of Media,
Culture and Social Theory
1990–1995:
Lecturer at the University of Zurich, teaching „Ethnology and Public
Relations“.
Biographical Research
Co-initiator of an international seminar at the University of Berne in March
2003:
Under the title „Leben schreiben. Auto/Biographie in Geschichte und
Literatur“ (Writing Life. Auto/Biography in History and Literature)
Ina Boesch conceived and developed a 3-day conference together with Brigitte
Schnegg, Caroline Arni, Elisabeth Joris and Erika Hebeisen featuring top experts
from France, Germany, Switzerland and the USA.
