Culture in Southeast Europe
For Pro Helvetia (Swiss Arts Council), the goal of their involvement in Eastern Europe (together with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, DEZA) was and is to help develop an independent, manifold and innovative regionally-interlinked cultural life. The focus changed from what it had been at the end of the Nineties from the so-called Visegrad countries to those in Southeastern Europe. In 2001, Ina Boesch, Marijana Grandits and Helmuth Hartmeyer evaluated the fifth phase of the Cultural Support and Promotion Program of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (DEZA) in the countries of Eastern Europe and the CIS.
